Early Sunday mornings on Sunset Beach are typically quiet. The coastal ocean water grew brighter as the Sun rose, its glow unhindered by the scattered clouds overhead. Patches of tall grass, left to grow along the outlying sand dunes, were laden with glistening dewdrops. A warm, steady breeze pushed the cold air from the previous night across the land, through the dense tropical forest, back out to the ocean. Morning joggers and lounging tourists peppered the stretch of sand, welcoming the day.
Walking along the beach was a young woman. She had rich, orange hair in a white sunhat. On her back was a small, grey backpack. With her, s

"What do you call this substance?"
"It's called 'Pumpkin', pureed. I'm sure you can identify what a Pumpkin is."

Siege of Serenity - Chapter 1
In the latter-morning light, there leaned a man against a marble pillar, in the midst of a large, opulent garden. He was youthful and strong-jawed. His well-kempt hair matched his delft-blue cassock in martial elegance. "Kaaay-lan!" spake a familiar voice. The soldier turned and saw another man, making his way along the tanned bricks of the garden path. "Daxus." Kaelan replied, with a friendly grin. Daxus stood about a hand's length taller than Kaelan. His was a milder appearance: still suitable for decorum, yet reflective of his more casual manner. His roughened floral cape caught Kaelan's eye. "I see you walked all the way here." "Almost all the way... I'll admit I hitched a wagon part-ways." "Those poor people." They both laughed, and met with a friendly embrace. "'Tis good to see you, Captain." said Daxus. "Enjoying your new station?" "More than I thought I would." replied Kaelan. "And what of you, Phantom? Enjoy your time with Vedict Amos?" "Absolutely. Though, I

In a town not far north of Pearl City was the Hans-Weir Foundation's Physics Testing laboratory complex. The shallow forestry in the area had been largely built-around, making the large, white buildings stand out amid a surrounding lush, green proscenium. Inside the second-largest structure, on the second floor, was a cafeteria, surrounded by a lounge section which extended to a canopied patio, complete with tables, chairs and a view of the colorful flora outside.
“Dr. O'Leary, have you received the reports from yesterday's experiment?” asked a middle-aged black man in casual business dress. He sat down, facing a younge

The orange-haired girl lay on a long, folding beach chair, her face partially covered by her hat. She smiled, content with the day's affairs. Large rock formations littered the beach around her in lieu of people, for the Western tip of O'ahu was hardly much of a tourist attraction, save for marine life and the backdrop of dense, colorful forest behind her.
Not far in the distance, along the water to the North, she spotted a Trader Ship. It remained stationary, anchored to the shallow sea floor. Small, pre-fabricated, domed structures stood on its rear-upper deck, topped with the flags of business trademarks, advertisements like

Night had fallen upon the coastal city of Mākaha. Ali'i Square was alight. A large, three-dimensional hologramic display of a large man in business attire had stepped onto the makeshift stage. His likeness appeared in a live feed across several audio-visual platforms, all over Hawaii. A narrator quickly announced the incoming event.
"Welcome, one and all, to the tenth annual Hawaiian Summer Cultural Tradition Event! This year, we celebrate Japanese tradition with the Bon Festival."
Crowds from observing areas around Hawaii cheered. People ranging from native Buddhist Japanese to a wide set of demographics, local and tourist a

Having enjoyed enough of the festivities, the young woman named Jenny realized it was nearly time for her meeting with Lilah. She made her way out of Ali'i Square, taking the same corridor she had taken before, and found her route along a dimly-lit section of the densely-packed building complexes on the shoreline.
After a short time, having well-remembered the meeting location, she found it.
Long stretches of the beachfront were barely lit for the sake of power and light conservation. The stars in the evening sky were somewhat more visible than from Mākaha Central. So, too, was it that numerous buildings on the beachhead, whi
